El Camino High Prom/Funny Faces

I tried the whole night not to be nice for once. Maybe even make people cry. I just kept in mind WWGD, "What Would Grigor Do" No, of course nothing I did is even comparable to Grigor's stuff, but I tried to go further with my sketches than I have before.

This was the last couple I drew. This guy jumped up in the air and danced around shouting when he saw this. I guess he liked it. I never got a reaction as animated as his before.

Angles

I was encouraged by some friends to color this pencil drawing so I did. Thanks guys.
Used Photoshop CS, three tries and the final being around 5 hours.
The process:
1.Made three duplicate layers
2.Layer 1: Image>Adjustment>Hue/saturation, colorize. I then changed the line art to umber so it would copliment the color, and set the layer to multiply.
3.Layer 2 goes under 1 so I can do all my spot/bucket fill colors, and change opacity etc
4.Layer 3 goes at the bottom to make the line art a little darker
5.Layer 4 is put on top: used for highlights and if I want to paint on top of the lines
6. Layer 5 goes between 1 and 3 so I can paint my dark and midtones without going over the lines.
7. Layer 6 goes on the top last so I can do any final touches and the hair. If I don't like the results I can just erease without hurting any of the other art or delete the layer, which I did a few times
Let me know if any of you have a better/easier way, or if you have any suggestions on the process. I'm kinda new at coloring with Photoshop

Dark

After I watched "The Making of the Dawn of the Dead" I started drawing a couple of them zombies. Couple of days later I got a'hold of my friend's cd she made with her band "Gastromachine" Listened to it over and over again while finishing up the zombie face and drawing the second page. I don't usaully draw this dark, but I guess the music, and the movie had an influence on me. Its nice to show "myself" that I can draw differently than what I do normally.

By the way the cd is really good, and well polished. Its produced alot better than I would have thought an independently made cd would be. I don't listen to goth/industrial, but I can't stop listening to this one. Well I got the cd for free so I gotta say something nice:)

Bettie Page

A picture of Bettie Page I did for a class. We had to take a classic pin-up reference and make it our own.

Digital painting class 9

I really liked the results from this class.
The pictures are from DVD stills. The first 2 took 15-20 minutes, and the last an hour. I liked the way it came out. I hope that one day I might add more detail, but I'm happy with what I got done in the amount of time. It was easier to use Photoshop this time.

Warm-ups

I got the idea from Joey Mason. He draws a car for 15-20 minutes each day to get warmed up before taking on the real projects he's working on. So I tried, and it sucked half as much as I thought it would. I still hate drawing cars, and anyone that is good at drawing them. The other warm-up is one I like to do where I just take faces from a magezine and draw it with a ballpoint pen, no pencil lines. It keeps the rest of the art I'm doing that day less sketchy.

X-23

This was for a class I took on covers and pin-ups. Its X-23, and it could still use colors and clothes. I had to draw it this way to get it right. Still working on it a little.
