Philly Bound

This time I used burnt sienna for my underpainting. Great range of colors using thinner to pick-out. At the next workshop she'll be sitting in the same pose for another 2 hours. Giving us a chance to add color.

Anyhoo this model kept talking about music and how she's moving to Philly.
Maybe she forgot models are supposed to sit still

Coffee shop owner

I'm taking a painting class at Studio 2nd Street
One of the lessons is a burnt umber pick-out, to learn the values, and then to paint over it with color. I've been having trouble with the whole process so I went to the studios open workshop to practice.

I had alot of fun with this one, instead of my usual frustration with paint.

The model owns the coffee shop across the street. I think its a symbiotic relationship.

Rachel's Boyfriend

His name is Mike. For a long time he was known as Rachel's boyfriend. Then he was known as Rachel's x-boyfriend. Then he was known as Paris Hilton's boyfriend. Then Paris Hilton was known as Mike's x-girlfriend. That's how I found out his name.

He's back with good'ol Rachel now. Raising bedbugs and any other pets that follow them home.

I surprised myself on this one. I was reading alot of Claire Wendling when I drew it.

I'm in a new portrait and figure class at the Ron Lemon Studio. I'll post some drawings as soon as I do something good. After the 2 classes I've taken, its kinda like a starting over class and I'm still learning how to construct the figure the way he's instructing. In other words we are drawing alot of boxes.

Jean-Michel Basquiat

This is a black oil pick-out painting I did of Jean-Michel Basquiat from a photo. He has long dreadlocks, two ears, and he slept with Andy Warhol.

Watercolor 3

I'm still trying to learn watercolor, and this is one of my attempts. I think a stronger drawing would have helped, but I was real surprised how the color came out.
