It was a good sketch day

In the morning I had this really boring event at a furniture store "grand re-opening." Hardly anybody showed up. They gave away $10000 dollars in store credit to some family, and $100 to the first 100 people. It was sad really, after 5hours they still were not at 100 customers. After that I zipped off to work and drew for 3 busy hours. My marker was just dancing all over the page. The sketches were drawing themselves, and I was having so much fun just drawing as fast as I could.

This lady said that when she shows this to her son, his eyes are gonna pop right out of his skull. Old people say silly things.

My buddy Dale

This is my buddy Dale. He likes sweets, and drinking lots of soda. None of his teeth are getting along. Maybe cause each of them are a different color.
He sweeps up after litter-bugs. So when you go to a theme-park, throw lots of trash on the ground or even better in the bushes, or you'll force this guy outta a job. Thanks America!

Maybe a little progress

Had a couple gigs in the same day. All outdoor. At the first one they feed us awesome Bar-B-Que! They second I sat in the "No-Tip-Zone"

I liked my lines on this one.







This was my favorite of the night. I sketched them both out, and got my lines to match up.

Drawing at a little picnic with Court Jones

It was a great learning experience sitting next to Court for this gig. His line work iss amaaazzing! I was trying to study his execution, and really focused on how he does noses. He can do them effortlessly in about one continuous line. I feel mine have become to monotonous, and so I tried to replicate his results. Please just let me know what you think of the likeness's, where I went wrong or where there is room to improve. I would really appreciate any kind of critique for this one, or any other post. I'm posting my sketches so that I can improve.

This girl had a little snaggley tooth on the left. When I saw it I asked her to smile a little bigger and said" It looks like you got one hiding in there." She didn't open her mouth any more after that.

One night to render.

After drawing with Joe Bluhm, I decided that foe this gig I was going to try some of the techniques that I saw Joe use. All sketches were penciled, inked, and then rendered with a black prismacolor art stick


Not the first one, but the first not to look like crap. It was really hard to try something different at first, but then I really got into it.











I know this girl doesn't look it but she is a party animal. She really did have those big ears, but she covered them up for the picture. This was my favorite of the night. Had fun with the hair.

I don't know whhhyyyy this guy wasn't wearing a shirt, but they let him run around like that, and who am I to judge.

Drawing with Joe Bluhm

This was the best event ever! The client gave us paper. Really good paper too (cardstock). Extended us twice! For a full hour. Tipped us each $50, and oh yeah I got to draw next to some guy named Joe Bluhm. Joes sketches that night were AMAZING!!! (You get 3 exclamation marks Joe) Every one he did was funny, and rendered in black prismacolor. So they looked awesome, and I learned alot. I tried as much as a could to exaggerate, and push my sketch the farthest it has ever gone. We had a great time, feedeing off of each others energy, joking around with our models, and making fun of each other. If you get a chance check out his blog and see if he put up his yet. If not send him irritated messages till he does.

When I drew the outline of the guy on the left I thought it looked like a nose and just went with it. When he saw it he started swearing at me asking, "What the @#$% is this?" I told him it was his face.












She only had teeth on one side of her mouth. Can you guess which half? Maybe she's saving up for the rest.


This guy was way gay. His friends asked me to make sure that you could tell.
