MOOSE!
For November I'm going to do at least one drawing a day and try to post it each day.
The first four days of November I was drawing moose for an upcoming book I'm working on. TBA
After drawing moose for 4 days i think I'm about 50% the way there. They are alot harder to draw then I thought. Harder to draw than houses. Which I thought at first they where just horses with big horns. I have come across 5 moose in Sweden two of which were a mother and her offspring crossing the road. They are very peaceful and beautiful to watch graze or stride.
The bottom one I tried to make the antlers look more like a crown, as they did in the picture. In Sweden the moose, called elk (älg), are the kings of the forest and their antlers symbolize their crown.
My favorite out of the bunch. The eye needs a little work.

Rolf Markusson Svensk glasmästare ( Swedish glazier )
Rolf has taught me how to make stained glass windows, how to be a glazier, and about patience. I wanted to do a painting of Rolf. He'll be 72 soon. Maybe have it done for his birthday. The first step is to do a pencil study. Then a small burnt sienna pick-out. I don't know if I will complete a full color painting, but we'll see.

Leksand's Church Choir
I moved around the practice this time. I wanted to draw as many members as possible. Practice slowness.

John H. Vanderpoel studies more mouths
The last full page of mouths from the book. This one took some time to do. These studies really help some of the other art I do. Next is ears!

Swedish Writers
There is a little silly story about all of these at the bottom. If you like those kinds of things.
Bengt Emil Johnson
Bengt Emil Johnson1936-2010
So the story is.....
I found this free book at the library about Swedish writers. Little bios, and info on their work. Mostly people I never heard of or seen. Each page has a great little photo of each of them. I thought it might be a great opportunity to practice drawing portraits. My goal lately is to devote at least 10 minutes a day to draw portraits from this book. The 10 minutes usually doubles or grows to an hour. Sometimes I work on the same drawing for a few sessions. Its liberating to draw someone I don't know, and who will not see the drawing. Really free.

Backside
I'm in a new portrait and figure class at the Ron Lemon Studio. I'll post some drawings as soon as I do something good. After the 2 classes I've taken, its kinda like a starting over class and I'm still learning how to construct the figure the way he's instructing. In other words we are drawing alot of boxes.

20 minute drawing from a figure class.
